Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar exhorted children to lead movements against dowry, child marriage and consumption of liquor, stressing thereby on youth power for social reconstruction.
presiding over a function on human development here, Kumar said, "Schools should become centres of social change and our children heroes of movements against social evils like dowry, child marriage and consumption of liquor."
The youth in Bihar have played their role in social and political movements from the beginning, he said. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi stressed on involving panchayati raj institutions in spreading literacy, particularly among women.
After the programme, Development Commissioner Vijay Prakash said 18 indicators were identified for 'wholesome' human development and seven sub-committees were constituted for achieving goals like population control, health, education, drinking water, sanitation and sports.
Host of ministers including Minister for Information Brishen Patel and Health Minister Ashwani Choubey participated in the function.
