Eighth Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic competition at Malaysia produces winners from Kerala

Two students from Kerala have won the first two places in the Eighth Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic competition held at Malaysia last week.
 
Sneha, a third standard student, bagged the top honour while Samjo Francis Joseph settled for the runner-up slot, Padmini Varma, of Kozhikode Mind Power Speed Mathematics Abacus Institute, said.
 
She said the two came out victorious from among nearly 5000 competitors from 48 countries.
 
The two were given nearly 200 arithmetic sums and both of them had answered nearly 170 in eight minutes, she said.
