Centre to be informed of confusions and problems of CET by IMA TN Chapter

Tamil Nadu chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA)  would take up with the Centre the 'confused' issue of the National Level Common Entrance Test for Undergraduate and Postgraduates at its 67th state conference, beginning here on December 15.
   
Dr L P Thangavelu, IMA Tamil Nadu president elect, informed reporters on the conference "MEDITEX2012",that there is confusion and problems of the Centre's decision to have National level CET, which would be fair and possible only if the Higher Secondary Syllabus was uniform all over India.
    
Each State has different syllabi and various evaluation patterns and in this context, the CET 'won't be fair to all students,' Thangavelu, who is taking over as President of Tamil Nadu Chaper, at the conference, said.
   
The Conference would discuss improving quality of treatment by doctors who serve in small villages by making them know, through the Continuing Medical Education-the latest findings, new techniques and development in Medicine,he said.
  
Other issues to come up would be to find ways and means to provide quality medical assistance to the downtrodden at a fair and affordable cost, to be an organisation that would protect the safety and rights of doctors who render selfless service, to be an important advisory body for the new Medical, Human Welfare and Health Care schemes that are planned by Central and State Governments, he said.
   
The issue of fake and quake doctors, who practice without proper medical education would also be taken up, he said. Another important issue would be to urge government to pass a bill in Parliament and declare the Right to Health Care for the people, on the lines of Right to Education, which only would help to build the infrastructure to provide a lot of facilities and privileges, Thangavelu said.
