The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up a degree college in each of the 58 unserved blocks in a phased manner in the next three years.
Announcing this in the midst of his reply to a question, revenue minister Ambika Chaudhary said that 23 such colleges would be set up during the current financial year, one dozen in the next financial year and the remaining 23 in 2015. With the implementation of this scheme, the need of all the blocks which were so far unserved by degree colleges would be addressed. He said that there are 553 degree colleges in the state.
