Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the apex religious body of the Sikhs, will open a technical university in Punjab.
This was announced by SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar who was here to lay the foundation stone of a girls hostel of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University.
However, he did not inform about the exact location of the university.
Presently, there is only one technical university in the state Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar.
Stating that SGPC is focusing on education, he announced that SGPC will convert Sri Guru Ramdas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Amritsar into Sri Guru Ramdas Medical University.
