A two-day workshop on "Communal violence in India: Post-independence scenario" will be organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Chair in Contemporary Studies of Allahabad University on November 21. Issues pertaining to communal violence, society, secularism etc. will be addressed in the seminar.
Dean Arts Prof M P Dubey said that the seminar will be held in the conference hall of AU political science department. Prof DK Verma, Head SC/ST and OBC development of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar National Institute of Social Science, MP, will deliver the inaugural address. Chairman, centre for study of society and secularism, Mumbai, Dr Asghar Ali Engineer will deliver the key-note address, he added. AU vice-chancellor Prof AK Singh will preside over the inaugural function.
On the second day the department would host the valedictory function at the conference hall of the Dean office, Faculty of Arts on November 22. Former head, department of Political Science, University of Delhi, Prof Bidyut Chakrabarty will deliver the valedictory address and Prof R P Mishra former AU VC will preside over valedictory session.
