Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said on Friday that the government intends to open medical colleges and hospitals on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model to provide better health care facilities to people in the state.
Inaugurating a critical care and trauma hospital in Jagatpura here, he said the free generic medicine scheme in the state has delivered encouraging results.
He said after the scheme was launched last year, there has been a 40 to 50 per cent increase in the number of patients visiting government hospitals.
"It indicates that patients from all sections are taking advantage of this scheme," he said.
Gehlot said his government has also launched a free generic veterinary medicines scheme in August.
The new 150-bed hospital in Jagatpura area was built at a cost of Rs 25 crore and has a capacity of 150 beds.
