Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) here will conduct a 'Radio School' in association with All India Radio Kannur, its director P P Balan said here.
In a statement here, he said the main objective of the scheme would be to create awareness among students about the Panchayat Raj set up and functioning of the three tier local bodies. A total of 400 schools from Kannur and Kasargode districts would be covered under the scheme, he said.
Prizes worth Rs 25 lakh have been earmarked for distribution to successful students at different stages of the quiz.
The first phase of the scheme would be to broadcast programmes for students of schools from Kerala, CBSE from High Schools and Plus Two divsions, beneficial for their studies.
The programme 'Radio School Panchayats' would be broadcast every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and would be repeated on Thursday and Saturday to enable participating students to answer properly. Questions in the programme would be based on Panchayats and general knowledge, it said.
The quiz programme would be held at six centres in North Malabar.
The participating teams in the quiz would comprise two students in each team, Balan added.
