Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, said that for the first time the World Bank has offered summer placement for its students.
"World Bank visited the campus and offered three positions in their financial instruments and treasury departments. This is the first time that students from any IIM are being recruited for internship to the organisation," a IIM-C release said.
The summer placement process started on November 5 and in two days more than 230 offers were made.
Consulting majors such as BCG, Bain & Co, and AT Kearney were hiring in large numbers.
BCG extended the most number of offers, recruiting 12 students for their summer internship program. The total number of consulting offers stood at 43, the institute said.
IIM-C witnessed participation from a number of major banks. Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Nomura and HSBC, JP Morgan Chase, Barclays Capital, Royal Bank of Scotland, Credit Suisse, Standard Chartered, and Rothschild.
Among the Indian recruiters were Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Procter and Gamble, ITC, Kraft Foods, Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, Pepsi Co, Dabur, Asian Paints, Airtel, and Nokia recruiting on campus.
