Venture for India (VFI), in collaboration with Columbia Business School, has launched a programme where graduates will undergo a three week entrepreneurial workshop at the IVY league university in New York City. Following this, participants will be guaranteed a two-year placement in companies with high growth potential in India while being mentored by the top management.
The goal of VFI’s fellowship programme is to ensure that the graduates develop the skills to provide immediate impact on local firms as employees and also establish a foundation of skills and knowledge for those looking to become future venture creators.
Additionally, periodic workshops organised by VFI will be held during the two years for the students to interact, learn and voice their opinions on various topics dealing with venture creation in India.
Anuj Bagri, director, Venture for India, said “We aim to provide the education, placement, mentorship and finally connect these students to angel investors and venture capitalists so that they get funding for their own venture.”
The programme is looking for graduates from top colleges and universities across India, although in the first year, they plan to take in only 15 students. Student’s with a bachelor’s degree and at least an average score of 75 per cent can apply. Applications will be accepted from the first week of November, until February 28, 2013 and the programme will commence on May 13, 2013.
