A multinational hardware and electronics company recently partnered with prominent schools in the country for a green contest. Ruchi Chopda reports
In a bid to create awareness and increase participation to its Incredible Green Contest, Taiwanese multinational, Acer, recently associated with prominent schools, such Kendriya Vidyalaya. Applications for the contest, which invites students to create green-centric applications to generate innovative and sustainable solutions embracing energy saving, carbon reduction, ecological conversation, and other environmental issues, closes on October 31. The theme of the contest is 2020 Future TechLife enabled by green innovation.
A statement released by the tech giant states that maximum registrations have been received from India until now. Students from reputed institutes such as Indian Institute of Management, Birla Institute of Technology (BITS), Anna University, Delhi Public School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Indian Institute of Technology and National Institute of Technology, to name a few, have participated in the contest.
S Rajendran, chief marketing officer, Acer India, said, “It is indeed heartening to see so many young minds participate in this contest. Maximum registrations from our country, is a proof to the fact that today’s youth is extremely conscious of the environment and believe in creating energy efficient solutions for a better world. We have received registrations from remote locations in the country and we look forward to more students participating to make this contest a larger initiative.”
Students can participate either individually or in teams. The size of a team must not exceed five members. Participants must submit and present their entry in English. Finalist teams will (up to two members/ team) get to travel to Taipei, Taiwan to complete the final stage evaluation. The winners will receive US$60,000. The first runners up and second runners up will receive US$35,000 and US$20,000 respectively. Apart from this there will be a special jury award, people’s choice award and a host of other prizes for awards for finalists. All entrants will receive a certificate of participation.

Earth Friendly 40%
Reality Friendly 40%
Innovation Friendly 20%
Concerned factors such as climate, conservation, affordability, applicability, and availability may be leveraged in your project submission.
