IIM-K to host 3 daynational workshop on Knowledge management Systrems

A three day national workshop will be held at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) from Nov 19 on new generation enterprises.
  
The workshop shall rigorously map and capture the strengths of Knowledge Management systems that enable the meticulous extraction, access and coordination of knowledge assets that are embodied in people as well as embedded in the processes and procedures being practiced by the enterprise, IIMK said in a press release.
 
All the major facets of the enterprises knowledge management functions such as strategy, human aspect, technologies, processes, roadmap, maturity, metrics and measurements, communities of practice and innovation will be among the topics covered.
 
Knowledge has undoubtedly become the key economic resource and the dominant source of competitive as well as comparative advantage for the enterprise of the 21st Century. Managing and retaining the enterprises tacit knowledge is the major challenge before every organisation now, the release said. There is also the vast amount of explicit and recorded knowledge that is already possessed by the enterprise, which keeps growing, adding to the complexity of its efficient access, utility and management.
 
Technologies reviewed will include intranets, discussion groups, groupware/collaborative spaces, social software & Web new generation tools, content management systems and knowledge repositories, in both individual and organizational contexts, the release said.
 
Underlining the need of knowledge management by the modern enterprises, Prof Debashis Chatterjee, IIMK Director, said at a time 'when India has started actively participating and partnering with the knowledge economy, ideas and knowledge have become the principal raw materials and the intellectual capital, a critical metric, for determining the economic value of an enterprise'.
 
Apart from the resource persons from IIMK, National Institute of Technology, Thiruchirapally, ISI Bangalore, the faculty of the programme include experts from MAKE (Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise) International Award winners in India such as Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
  
Twentyfive participants from varying backgrounds including Corporates, Accademics and Research institutions will be participating the registration of which is presently on.
