Chennai: Striking the right note with students of Anna Adarsh College for Women, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment D. Napoleon recounted to them his journey as an actor and a politician, and how he never gave up in both the pursuits.
Delivering the valedictory address of a three-day international conference on 'Transcending the feminine mystique – perspectives' organised by the college, he
combined his speech with anecdotes of his experiences as an aspiring actor who went and met director Bharathiraja seeking a role.
His debut film, 'Pudu Nellu Pudu Naathu' proved to be lucky for him, giving him great scope to perform. 'Hard work and consistent effort will always pay off,' he told the students.
Also highlighting how sports would help individuals look at success and failure in the same way. 'Today's women are outsmarting men in several fields. But, I am aware that retaining this status is a daily battle. With enthusiasm and effort, you will all continue winning.'
The Minister commended the Punjab Association for successfully running the institution for 25 years.
