More than 75,000 students have enrolled in Mumbai University's distance-learning programme this year through online system, as against last year's 30,000.
MU's examination centre director Dr Subhash Deo said, "As many as 78,000 students from Konkan (which comes under Mumbai University's jurisdiction) have taken admission in the varsity's distance learning education programme, by applying online."
The last year this figure was only 30,000. Deo attributed the increased response to the Information Technology (IT).
"Students could enrol by filling the form online, sitting at home," he added. The fee could be paid online too, through credit and debit cards, Deo added.
