Karnataka High Court gave green signal for conducting exams to initiate recruitment for the KPSC pertaining to groups A and B, vacating the earlier stay order issued in August.
However, in relation to exams for the groups C and D, the High court continued its stay and the division bench headed by Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen directed the state government to give an explanation regarding the recruitment criteria in four weeks.
Last month the High Court had stayed all the examinations, including the KAS (Karnataka State Administrative Service) scheduled in the last week of August and conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) till the second week of September.
Hearing a batch of petitions including the one by City-based Spinal Cord Injuries Association, an organisation working on disability issues, the Division Bench headed by comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen had stayed all the examinations conducted by the KPSC including the scheduled mains examination for gazetted probationaries (KAS) until September 10, 2012.
The Bench had directed to stay all the examinations in the earlier hearing until the State government decides about identifying the jobs for the disabled or follows the list issued by the Union government.
The government advocate submitted that the state government had issued a notification on September 7 stating that it would follow Union government reservation guidelines for recruitments to groups A and B.
The bench said the court would accept and appreciate the move by the State government and directed it to come up with similar solution for C and D groups in four weeks.
