Noting that values like wisdom and character should be inculcated among students, HRD minister Kapil Sibal today said life skills should become the central focus of education.
"In the present day context, it is not enough for teachers to merely give information and knowledge to students ...human beings need wisdom. They need character. Life skills must become a central focus of educational efforts," he said.
Sibal was speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of Central Tibetan Schools Administration (CTSA) here.
The minister said schools should provide an environment where a student can learn techniques of goal setting and how to deal with difficult situations in life.
He also emphasised on adopting new technologies to impart education in schools.
