Punjab government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 250 crore with a Germany based private company GIZ to promote technical education in the state.
In an official statement here, Minister for Technical Education and Industrial Trade Anil Joshi said that as per this MoU, Multi Skill Development Centres would be opened in four districts of Punjab.
More than four lakh students would be imparted technical education in these centres to make them enabled to get employment in industrial sector.
Joshi said that workers who were working in the factories could get enhanced salaries after obtaining education through specific courses from these Multi Skill Development Centres.
