Hotel Management Institute inaugurated in Haryana

Union Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay inaugurated a State Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism in Haryana's Rohtak district, an official spokesman said.

With the opening of this institute, the number of such institutions in the state has reached four. Such institutes are already functional in Panipat, Kurukshetra and Faridabad.

Sahay, in presence of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, inaugurated the institute at Tilyar tourist complex in the district, the spokesman said.

The Union Tourism Ministry had provided a grant of Rs 10 crore whereas the state government had allotted Rs 2.98 crore for setting up of this institute, he said.

The institute has been constructed over five acres of area. In addition to it, two acres of land was provided for construction of hostel for this institute for which the state government had given Rs 3.5 crore.
 
Keeping in view the future employment possibilities, fifth such institute would be set up in Yamunanagar, the spokesman added.

On the pattern of Sentosa island of Singapore, a water laser, light and sound show on Haryana's culture would be started at Tilyar lake, the Minister said.

He added that efforts are underway to set up Indian Culinary Institute and a world class convention centre in Haryana.

Indian Culinary Institute would be set up in Jhajhar district near Delhi, if the required land is provided by the state government, Sahay said.

The Union tourism ministry and Haryana Chief Minister are working on a major project for the state, he said. The Centre will provide the required financial  assistance to the state for development works, he said.

Sahay stressed on the need for converting the domestic tourism into the entertainment tourism as it would generate more revenue.
