TANUVAS to hold a special training programme on AOVET

In a first such initiative, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University would hold a special training programme on AOVET - AO Principles of Small Animal Fracture Management, for veterinarians for three days here from.
 
"This is the first time any Indian university is conducting a special programme on AO principles of small animal fracture management.It will focus on the basic principles of AOVET (Association for the Study of Internal Fixation for German)," TANUVAS Vice-Chancellor R Prabakaran told reporters here.
 
India's only AO member and Professor, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Madras Veterinary College, Dr S Ayyappan, will be the co-course chairman.
 
The course will also be taught by Switzerland-based AO chairman Prof Emeritus Dr Jorg Auer and his colleagues.
  
Elaborating on the concept of AOVET, Dr Ayyappan said, "Because animals had been an integral part of human medical research, it was decided by the Foundation that they too should benefit from new advances in fracture treatment."
  
The programme would be attended by 48 participants from India, Bangladesh and Malaysia.
  
Aimed at advancing the practice of veterinary surgery to improve patient outcomes, AOVET was founded in 1969 to improve the quality of medical treatment offered to animals.
