Himachal Cabinet approves proposal to provide free Netbooks to 4,000 toppers of the matriculation examination

To help meritorious students prepare better for higher studies, the Himachal Cabinet approved a proposal to provide free Netbooks to 4,000 toppers of the matriculation examination from government schools in the state.

"This will provide students easy access to latest global technologies and equip them with thorough knowledge of computer technology," an official spokesman said here.
 
The decision would put an addition burden of Rs 6.50 crore on the state exchequer, he said. The Cabinet decided to grant five per cent concession in power tariff to industrial units which became operational after April 1, 2012.
 
The spokesman said the Cabinet okayed purchase of 27 more vehicles to strengthen the existing fleet of 108 ambulances to 135 under the Atal Swasthya Sewa.
 
The Cabinet approved development of Bara Bhangal (200 MW) Hydro Electric Project in two stages keeping in view the area falling in a wildlife sanctuary.
 
It also allowed opening of Imported Timber Sale Depots in rural areas to meet the requirement of specific areas.
