Farook College, Kozhikode, is holding a programme called Genuine Afghanistan, which will give a general introduction to and talk about the culture of Afghanistan.
The programme, organised by Afghan Students in Kerala will be held at Yosaf Sagar Hall on July 18.
Nazir K.M., lecturer in the Department of Malayalam in the college, said, “It is the first event in Kerala being fully conducted by Afghan students and it will provide a platform for intercultural ties between the two countries to be strengthened.”
About 80 students from Afghanistan, including two girls, are studying for their graduation and higher level education at Farook College and Devagiri College in the city.
The programme, which will be inaugurated by M. Abdul Salam, Vice Chancellor, Calicut University, will also comprise a cultural extravaganza with fashion shows of Afghan costumes, traditional and national dance performances etc.
The event will provide Afghan students with a platform to explore their world in front of the people of Kerala, said Muhammed Nowin, a graduate student in the college.
