Delhi government finalised the details of setting up a world class institute on skill development here with technical expertise and assistance from Singapore government.

A cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, approved a draft memorandum of understanding to be signed between governments of Delhi and Singapore.

The green field skill development centre would be set up at Jonapur in South Delhi and it will impart skill development training on par with the best of such institutes in the country.

"The Cabinet approved a draft MoU to be signed between City Government and Government of Singapore", Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said.

Officials said the institute would be modelled on the Institute of Technical Studies, Singapore.

The Singapore government has offered to provide technical expertise to the proposed institute during Dikshit's visit to that country in October last year.

The courses on tourism, hospitality, health care, automobile, manufacturing, construction, IT and IT enabled services, electronics, production and manufacturing, financial services, banking, bio-technology, chemical technology, para-medic and emergency care, nursing, business studies, and retailmerchandising will be offered in the institute.
