Chief Minister N Rangasamy of Puducherry said, the Government has earmarked Rs one crore as its share for construction of hostels for Scheduled Caste students.
Speaking after laying the foundation of a hostel for SC girls at Krishna Nagar near here, he said the scheme to set up hostels was being implemented under centrally-sponsored `Babu Jagjivanram Chatrawas Yojana`.
The Union Ministry for Social Justice and Women`s Empowerment provides as its share Rs one crore for the infrastructure, he said.
Welfare Minister P Rajavelu said the territorial government was addressing the requirements of the downtrodden sections of people and the centrally sponsored schemes were also being used to fulfil the expectations of the Scheduled Caste people.
