The Centre for Remote Sensing of the Bharathidasan University has signed a MoU with the GIS industry major NIIT GIS Limited for organising joint academic and research programmes.
The objective of the MoU was to meet growing demand for manpower in the field of geospatial technology, a release said.
The MoU was signed recently by T Ramasamy, Registrar of the University and S Sridhar, president of NIIT-GIS Limited, New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, T S Sridhar, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, said Bharathidasan University was making headway in imparting quality higher education.
Vice-Chancellor K Meena said the Centre for remote sensing was being upgraded into a PG Centre for which the Tamil Nadu government had sanctioned Rs 2.5 crore.
