Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aurangabad based Nath Bio-genes India Ltd for producing and marketing of its hybrid maize seeds.
Under the agreement, the company has been granted a non-exclusive licence for a period of five years for producing and marketing of seeds of three hybrids of maize - HM-9, HM-10 and HM-11 developed by the university, an official release said.
Sucheta Khokhar, Dean, College of Agriculture along with Director of Research, R P Narwal, signed the agreement on behalf of the university with S K Raina who represented Nath Bio-genes India Ltd.
Speaking on the occasion Khokhar said maize hybrids of HAU were in great demand among private seed companies across the country.
She said so far 27 MoUs had been signed with both public and private sector agencies out of which 10 MoUs were for maize hybrids alone.
Director of Human Resource Management, M K Garg said the varsity had earned nearly Rs one crore as license fee from these MoUs.
