VC appointed UPSC member

Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, Prof David R Syiemlieh has been appointed as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), official sources said .
    
Syiemlieh took over as Vice Chancellor only seven months ago.
       
He is likely to demit office on June 1 on receipt of clearance from the union ministry of human resources development, sources said.
      
Former honorary director of the ICSSR-NERC, Syiemlieh is also presently a member of the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi. A Fulbright Fellow, he has published a number of books and papers on the history of the Northeastern region, sources added.
