Suguna Group, one of the largest poultry enterprises in the country, is setting up an institute for poultry management at Udumalpet in nearby Tirupur District. The Institute is expected to commence operation from august.
According to Mr. B.Soundararajan, Suguna Group Managing Director, the main objective of the Suguna Institute of Poultry Management (SIPM) is to enable a scientific understanding of poultry farming in the most conducive environment through a well-structured curriculum.
The Rs 40,000-crore Indian poultry industry employed more than one lakh people, majority of whom entered the industry without formal education in poultry, he said.
More than 10,000 people from diverse educational backgrounds entered the industry every year, and got informal training on the job, he said.
According to him, with the industry growing at a rate of 15% annually, there is tremendous job opportunity. The Institute has formulated the course keeping in mind the opportunity to empower the rural youth. the Institute is awaiting approval from Tamil Nadu University for Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
SIPM will offer one-year coursesdiploma in broiler production management and diploma in broiler breeder production management.
It will also provide three months duration certificate course in commercial broiler management, broiler breeder management, feed manufacturing technology, incubation and hatchery management and poultry health management, he said.
The eligibility criteria for diploma course would be plus two pass or equivalent with science subjects with pass certification, he said.
