The Himachal Pradesh government announced to provide free uniforms to students upto matriculation level.
Over 10 lakh students will benefit from this scheme, in which government would spend around Rs 64 crore, a spokesman of education department said.
Known as Atal School Uniform Yojna, the scheme shall be launched on May 9 by BJP national president Nitin Gadkari, he said.
The government has also declared that students who will capture the first 4,000 positions in the state board matriculation exam shall be given free lap tops.
The school education is also being made high tech in a phased manner in the state, he said.
