A committee headed by Commissioner of School Education has been constituted on Tuesday to finalise modalities for giving 25 per cent of admissions to children belonging to weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in Class-I in all private unaided and aided schools for the academic year 2012-13.
The eight member committee will comprise K. Ananda Kishore, consultant TET, Director, SCERT, Joint Director (Elementary Education), RJDSE, Hyderabad, DEO, Karimnagar, MEO, Farroqnagar, Mahabubnagar, State Project Director, RVM (SSA).
Ms. Chandana Khan, Special Chief Secretary, said that the committee will submit a report on various aspects like identification of private schools, neighbourhood schools, admission procedure, monitoring mechanism, awareness campaign to parents, orientation to field functionaries and sensitisation of private schools management.
The Supreme Court in its recent judgement directed that all private unaided schools should admit twenty five per cent of children belonging to weaker and disadvantaged groups in Class I every year as per Right to Education Act, 2009, till completion of elementary education
