IIT Madras and Mission10X, a non- profit trust launched by Wipro Limited, Bangalore signed an MoU to collaborate in enhancing Teaching, Learning and Engineering Education Research.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Ajit Kumar Kolar, Chairman, Continuing Education, IIT Madras with Sri S. Nagarjuna, Head, Mission 10X in the presence of the Director, Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi and Prof. K. Ramamurthy, Dean (Academic Courses), IITM.
The MoU brings together the internationally reputed Institute of Technology Education and the leading IT organization diversifying into Education Technology to synergise their strengths to meet the needs in the areas of enhancement of the Teaching Learning Process and Research in Engineering Education at the national level.
Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi commended the efforts of Mission 10 X in training more than 15000 engineering college teachers in the spirit of nation's service , and exhorted them to contribute in a programme being planned to provide degree oriented higher education for engineering college faculty “in situ” without the need for them to go to other institutions.
The Director and the Dean (Academic Courses) of IIT Madras expressed their keen interest and concern in nurturing the large number of Ph.D students in the Institute as “Teachers of Tomorrow”.
Speaking on the occassion, Sri Nagarjuna said, “We are delighted at the prospect of partnering with IIT Madras. This will significantly help the Mission10X initiative to make a much wider impact in enhancing pedagogy and research among Engineering Academia. With its focus on enhancing employability of graduating students, this should help the country compete globally with a more enabled workforce”.
Prof.Ajit Kumar Kolar said that there is an urgent need to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of teaching capabilities of faculty in higher engineering education , train the vast number of Ph D scholars who don the role of Teaching/Research Assistants in Institutes of Higher Technical Education, and promote research in Engineering Education.
The event also witnessed the release of Mission 10X impact report by Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras.
