The Heritage Academy in Kolkata organised a seminar focusing on the Growth and Development of Media and Entertainment Industry. The main focus was the unbreakable relationship between the business and media industry.
Soumendu Das, senior vice president and business head of Brand Value Media Communications, said, “In India, media industry is growing rapidly in comparison to the other countries in the world due to the high demand in industry, trade and commerce.” He added that in India Internet and mobile phone users are increasing in a rapid pace and that in future, these will become important tools for marketing communication for any business.
He also said that in comparison to China, there has been a rapid growth in this sector in India and soon we will conquer the number one position in the Asian economy. He further added, “Previously English films were first released in foreign countries and then in India but now the trend is just the opposite.”
The seminar was also addressed by Probir Roy, executive director, Heritage Institute of Technology; Professor Gour Banerjee, principal of The Heritage Academy and Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Institute of Technology.
More than 100 BBA and BCA students attended the seminar. One of the students of the academy shared, “Facebook has brought the world closer and we are floating on the information bubble with the help of Google. Moreover we feel communication is impossible without mobile phones.”
As per the data of internet world statistics http://www.internetworldstats.com/top20.htm, in the year 2011, India have 10, 00, 00, 000 internet users in comparison to the statistics of the year 2000 when it was only 50 lakhs. Moreover India ranks third in the world under highest number of internet users. A growth in digitisation would definitely change the face of India in the world.
