TN Chief Minister proposed establishing nearly 20 educational institutions in the state this year including engineering colleges, with the objective of reaching out to students of small towns as well as to reduce the drop-out rate,
Making a statement in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Jayalalithaa announced setting up an engineering college each in the districts of Thanjavur and Dharmapuri.
Besides, she announced seven polytechnic colleges and 11 constituent Arts and Science colleges in different parts of the state, holding that the efforts will pave way for students of smaller towns to have access to quality higher education, thus enabling them better career prospects.
