TN govt would soon run academic programmes for land surveying in a bid to have more skilled persons in the state for surveying.
According to the proposals for 2012-13, the government would soon start classes for two-year diploma programmes in surveying in two institutions across the state.
The Commonwealth Science and Technology Academy for Research (C-STAR) of Anna University in Chennai and the Survey Training Institute in Orathanadu near Thanjavur would offer this course.
The government has allocated Rs four crore for the programme in Chennai and Thanjavur.
The two year academic programme would also be made preferable qualification for vacancies of land surveyors and draughtsman, it said.
