Nalco Foundation, the CSR arm of Navaratna PSU National Aluminium Company Limited, will sponsor an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) to be set up at Marichamal in tribal-dominated Damanjodi in Odisha's Koraput district, at an estimated cost of Rs 4.08 crore.
Nalco Foundation chairman B L Bagra handed over an advance cheque of Rs 2 crore for initial mobilisation to Odisha chief secretary B K Patnaik here, company sources said on Friday.
The ITI would impart technical education to the rural youth to enhance their employability, the sources said adding the intervention is being considered a significant step in mainstreaming tribal youth by equipping them with vocational skills.
Directorate of Technical Education and Training, Odisha (DTE&T) has approved the setting up of the institute.
The land required for the purpose would be provided by the district administration, while Nalco Foundation has agreed to bear the infrastructure cost.
