Management students of Nehru Institute of Information Technology and Management got to play parliamentarians at the Youth Parliament that was held here on Tuesday.
K. Hariharan, Chartered Accountant, Suri and Co., was the moderator, who acted as the speaker of the house that consisted of 40 members. Role played by students as members of the house was judged and prizes were given away to the best minister, best minister of State, and best parliamentarian.
The parliament session was followed by a session on Union Budget 2012. Here too, groups were formed to function as union ministers, ministers of State, and Members of Parliament. And, the budget was debated upon.
Mr. Hariharan said the entry of students into corporate world was not a surprising thing. But they should be prepared for a revolutionary change to enter into the political system. Youth Parliaments would help students explore and understand techniques of group discussion, socio-drama and role play.
P. Krishna Kumar, chief executive officer and secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions, presided over the event.
