The Indian Medical Council (IMC) has granted permission to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda to fill 18 MD and MS seats, raising the total number of post graduate seats to 49.
An official spokesman said here, the admission to 49 MD/MS seats - one in Biochemistry, five in Anaesthesia, three each in Ortho, Gynae, community medicine, Pharmacology, Radiology, Microbiology and DVL, five each in Paediatrics, General Surgery and General Medicine, two each in ENT, Ophthalmology and eye departments - would be made during 2012-13. He said the present government has given boost to medical education, and the total number of MBBS seats has increased from 115 in 2007 to 200 in 2011-12.
Further, the number of MD/MS seats has increased from 39 to 139 in 2012.
He said that permanent recognition for 50 MBBS seats has been accorded to Tanda medical college and an admission to 29 MD/MS seats was made during 2010-11.
