Speaking about the golden jubilee celebration, Swami Srividyananda, secretary of the school, said, “We’re planning to invite top dignitaries and officials from the education department for the golden jubilee celebration.”
“Apart from various competitions and cultural programmes, we will also screen a film on Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda.”
school headmistress S. Lakshmi, said, “We’re constructing five additional classrooms to accommodate English medium sections for commerce students. Though we’ve both Tamil and English medium from class 6 to class 10, there’s no English medium for our class 11 and 12 commerce students. These days, students as well as parents prefer English medium. From high school, we upgraded into higher secondary school in 2008.” The school’s strength now is 822.
The secretary, Swami Srividyananda, said, “When we collected students’ data, we found that 68 per cent of students come from families with a monthly income of Rs 5,000 and less. Thirteen per cent of students attend school without taking breakfast and 9 per cent, without even having had dinner the previous night. We’re planning to start a tuition centre and provide snacks to these students.”
