Kalamandalam to open sub-centres

Culture Minister K C Joseph has said, that with a view to expand programmes and activities of Kerala Kalamandalam, sub-centres of the institution will be opened in important towns in the state,
 
Speaking after distributing prizes to noted artistes for their outstanding performance at the Kalamandalam, now a Deemed University of Art and Culture, at Cheruthuruty, he said a cultural festival would be held in New Delhi under the auspices of the Kalamandalam in August.
 
He said UGC scales would be implemented for the faculty of the Kalamandalam.
 
A sum of Rs 10.75 crore had been earmarked for the overall development of the Kalamandalam for the next fiscal, the minister said.
