To help get best score in the PTE Academic, here are the top tips:
1. Understand the test
PTE Academic is a computer based test that takes three hours to complete. Before you begin your study plan, check the tests format to familiarise yourself with its structure. There are multiple guides available to help you with this, including the Official Guide to PTE Academic.
2. Create a study plan
In order to create a study plan, you will need to identify your English language strengths and weaknesses. Then make a list of how you plan to improve your skills in order of priority. Next, develop a study schedule. After you start studying, it is important to review your progress regularly. You can do this by taking the practice test online. Review your results and decide on the language area you should focus on until you are confident you will get your best score.
3. On the day of the test
Allow yourself plenty of time to get to the test centre 30 minutes before the test begins. You will need to bring an ID that includes your name, your signature, a recent and recognisable picture of yourself, and have your biometrics taken as part of an additional security measure. Before PTE Academic begins, you will be asked to give a brief one minute introduction; this can include why you want to study in an English speaking country or why you have decided to take the PTE Academic.
4. During the test
When the test is in front of you, make sure that you read each item carefully and follow the instructions exactly. It might be helpful to read ahead. For example, while you are waiting for a recording to start, read the questions to get an idea of what you are about to hear. It is also important to stay focused on the item you are working on. Try not to worry about items you have already answered.
5. After the test
Well done on completing the test! This is a major step towards studying in an English speaking country. You will receive your results typically within five business days.
