The Guwahati regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 saw Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati emerge winners and Guwahati Medical College were runners-up.
the IIT, Guwahati team, comprising Tushar Krishna and Kapinjal Sharma, edged out Kunal and Piyush Agarwal of Guwahati Medical College last night after a gruelling and close contest to make it to the national finals to be held in Mumbai on April 8 next.
Prof B K Patel, Dean of Students' Affairs, IIT, Guwahati awarded the winners a cash prize of Rs 75,000. The runners-up team from Guwahati Medical College were awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000.
The Guwahati regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 saw participation from almost 198 teams from across Guwahati, Shillong, Silchar, Mirza and Tezpur in the preliminary rounds. The winning team from Guwahati will now compete with the regional winners from across 23 other cities, where the quiz is presently being organised.
Tata Crucible Campus Quiz, known for producing new innovations in its quiz format, was hosted by ace quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam. The mega International Final will be held in Mumbai where winners and runners-up from the national finals will compete with the winners and runners-up of the UK and Singapore editions held earlier this year, for the International Champions title.
