The first ever Common Management Admission Test was conducted from Feb. 20th to 28th across 61 cities for admission to AICTE approved management programmes. A total of 70000 candidates had registered for the maiden CMAT.
AICTE launched the first national level common management admission test to reduce the burden of students in appearing for multiple examination for admission into all management programmes in AICTE approved institutions and also facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programs approved by AICTE for year 2012-13.
The initiative has been taken to address the issue of physical, mental and financial stress being imposed on the students through number of entrance examinations.
Aptech, which facilitated the entire examination process said, "The examination was conducted online and received a good response from students and colleges with attendance of 83 per cent recorded across India". The exam was held for nine days from February 20 to 28 in 61 cities and 68 centers.
CMAT will release individual scores of these sections on March 11, which can be viewed by candidates as well as institutes who have registered CMAT to consider its scores for admissions.
Meanwhile, sources in All India Council for Technical Education said about 18 states have decided to accept CMAT scores for admission to institutes.
