SRM University will start new courses on Cyber Security from the academic year 2013-’14.
University chairman Ravi Pachamoothoo said a new department, ‘Networking Sciences Department’, is being created. Two UG courses – B.Sc (Ethical Hacking) and B.Sc (Networking Security) — are also being launched, he added.
Ankit Fadia, ethical hacker and cyber crime specialist, who is attending ‘Fabuloush ’12’, a three-day national level technical festival at the university, said one should not use e-mail accounts of larger players as these are watched.
He said one should be careful while using the Internet as it is likely to be hacked even while chatting. He advised students to take up cyber security lessons as a lot of organisations are globally entering this domain.
More than 1,500 students from over 100 educational institutions across India are participating in the tech-fest.
