Every parent's dream is to provide the best for their children. The desire is more now than ever before, considering the highly competitive environment in the educational and professional fields.
For Somna Sachdev, there was nothing better than getting her daughter into the American International School in the city. She says, “The children are encouraged to try all the subjects and they enjoy experimenting too. Only this way, will they realise what their potentials are.
Sometimes the child may do really well in certain subjects while at school, but after they turn 18, they may realise they're not cut to do what they're doing. International schools promote the idea of giving the child maximum exposure to various subjects, which is the ideal situation.”
Parents love the fact that international schools promote liberal thinking, while making sure that students shine academically. Entrepreneur Sam Paul says, “International schools believe in free thinking. It's one of the best things to have happened in the city. Even though we're not as good as Bangalore standards, we're getting to that level soon.”
The only disadvantage with international scho-ols seems to be the fees. Susheela P., a teacher at one of the city's CBSE schools, says, “The only problem with international schools is that their fee structures are exorbitant and only the NRIs seem to be able to afford it. However, the standard of teaching is commendable.”
Whether it's the courses, assignment patterns or exposure to foreign culture; students who study at these schools thoroughly enjoy their lessons. Sonya Shankar, 15-year-old student, says, “I enjoy going to school, simply because our classes are made very interesting. Even our assignments are not about learning by rote and putting the answers down. I also get to mingle with a lot of expat students and the exposure to different cultures is amazing.”
