The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), is organising a young women achiever contest for college students as a run-up to the February 26 ‘Thantedam' Calicut Mini Marathon organised by it, in association with the Social Welfare Department.
The contest aims to identify and recognise the achievements of women students across undergraduate colleges in the district based on their overall excellence, including academic proficiency, extracurricular skills, and contribution to society.
The third edition of the mini marathon, with its theme “Empowering her future,” aims to highlight issues such as poor workforce participation of women, domestic violence, customary dowry practices, and security concerns faced by today's women, and hence the contest assumes relevance, the organisers say.
The contest, they say, will be held in three stages, with the first stage being online submission of applications on www.calicutmarathon.in before February 16, followed by a group discussion and an interview on the IIM-K campus on February 19.
The selected three “young women achievers” will be felicitated on the day of the marathon. The event will help encourage undergraduate woman students to excel in their chosen fields, ultimately helping them lead society, the organisers say.
