The setting up of a model space lab at a school in Paravur is just the beginning of more such projects for the schools in the assembly constituency, says local MLA, VD Satheeshan.
As part of the ‘Sasthrayaan’ project, agreements have now been reached to establish an observatory lab, install a telescope imported from the US, and set up a model IT lab, herbarium and butterfly park in different schools.
“We have arrived at a pact with seven major agencies. While the state meteorological department will set up the observatory lab, the Thiruvananthapuram Technopark has agreed to help with the model IT lab.
The tropical botanical garden based in Palode will set up the herbarium,” V D Satheeshan, local MLA and the force behind the initiative, told Deccan Chronicle.
However, apart from the space lab, which is coming up at the Government Boys High School, North Paravur, the locations of the remaining projects have not been finalised yet.
"We found out that almost all the schools have poor infrastructural facilities. So we will first upgrade them and then decided which all projects will come up in which all schools,” he said.
