ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth has launched a 15-month, youth leadership programme with the aim of creating a group of socially conscious and responsible young leaders in the country. The programme is segregated into three complimentary parts and is punctuated with placements with NGOs for six months after every three weeks of training.
The idea behind the programme is to bring the youth of today face-to-face with India’s broader reality. In tandem with lessons in management training and leadership developments, the Fellows will work with different NGOs at the grass root level in rural areas. This is done to make them understand the challenges faced by the people in such areas.
Ex-Fellows have made significant contributions in providing a sustainable livelihood to those below the poverty line. The programme will make the prospective Fellows equipped to take the position of a leader across different sectors.
Any graduate between the age of 21 and 28 can apply for the programme. No fees will be charged from the Fellows; instead ICICI Foundation will pay a stipend of Rs 12,000 per month. Along with the stipend, the Fellows will also be provided with a health insurance that covers up to Rs 1 lakh and 24 hours hospitalisation facilities.
The application process has already begun and will continue till February 29. The assessment, which includes an aptitude test, GD and personal interview, would be conducted across the country from the month of March till May. The final result would be declared on June 1 and the batches would commence from August 1 2012.
