IIM-T to sign pact for exchange programmes with foreign institutes

Indian Institute of Management–Tiruchirapalli will have faculty and student exchange programmes with foreign institutes with the soon to be signed MoU with six institutes.

As per MoU, it will have exchange programmes with two each in France and USA, and one each in Sweden and Singapore.
   
IIM-T Director Prafulla Agnihotri told newsmen here that IIM-T would be the first among new IIMs to start a Fellow Programme in ManagementFPM (like Ph.D), a full time doctoral level programme to equip students for careers in research and management, with a maximum intake of 10.
  
Apart from attractive stipend, candidates will be entitled to additional allowances, contingency allowances and provision to take part in one international conference. IIM-T already participates in events organised by IIMs in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta and vice-versa.
  
The Government had sanctioned Rs 75 lakh for journals and books. Work would begin soon thereafter and completed in three years. In the first phase, Rs 300 crore would be spent on construction of academic block, hostels and quarters for faculty and staff, he said.

Meanwhile IIM-T Placement Officer Godwin Tennyson said students had clinched lucrative placements for summer internship even before end of the first year in disciplines like marketing finance, Operations and research, consultancy, Strategy Management and Human Resources.
 
He said placement companies included P&G International, Pfizer, Merck Sharp and Dohne, Rediff.com, Arvind Ltd, Innopark, Tata Metaliks.
  
In the finance segment, Citibank, HSBC, Yes Bank, L&T, IFMR and Kotak Mahindra had offered placements, while in Business consulting, Cognizant, Mahindra and Mahindra, IBM Research, Wipro and IL and FS, Index Advisory, Tata Chemicals, Sterling and Wilson had given placments, he said.
  
The Ministry of Human resources Development had  rated IIM-T as the best among the new IIMs, he said.
