CISCE to revamp syllabus from next academic year

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which has around 2,000 schools affiliated to it in the country and abroad, will revamp its syllabus from the next academic year.

"We have already brought out the new textbooks recently, which will be introduced from the next academic year," chairman of CISCE Jose Aikara said here.
 
He said the syllabus in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology has been changed as suggested by experts, and keeping in mind the government's proposal to have a uniform syllabus at the high school level.
   
The government has proposed that a uniform syllabus be introduced in all schools across the country for the 2014 exams.
   
Aikara, who was here to attend the silver jubilee function of De Paul School, however, said the CISCE would maintain its distinct identity by adding a few courses in some of the subjects.
   
"Extra courses, which are relevant to the students and help them in all India joint entrance examinations in engineering and medical, will be added," he said.
   
Aikara said CISCE intends to make subjects like English harder than its counterpart Council of Board Secondary Education, keeping an eye on the future examinations of the students and aspirations of the parents.
   
"Parents want their children to qualify in competitive examinations like engineering and medical conducted in English medium. We will develop their skill in the language from the primary level," he said.
