The Haryana government has doubled the award money of Rs 50,000 for those panchayats which ensure 100 per cent enrolment of girls in the 6-14 age group in schools under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
The government has implemented a number of programmes under the SSA to bring school dropouts into the mainstream, a spokesman of State's Education Department said.
In Sirsa district, Rs 55 crore would be spent on the implementation of various schemes under the SSA during the current fiscal, out of which Rs 39 crore had already been utilised.
During this fiscal, a special campaign was launched in the district to bring the dropouts back to schools and 900 students had so far been enrolled in various schools, he said.
These students were being provided special coaching so that they can complete their education after joining the mainstream, the spokesman added.
