Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) thanked the TN Chief Minister for taking steps to promote 'TNAU Pulse Wonder' with a budget outlay of Rs 212.5 crore, for the benefit of farmers.
In a statement, vice chancellor, Dr Murugesa Bhoopathi said that though pulses are being cultivated in six lakh hectares in the state, the annual production is just two lakh tonnes.
To improve the yield potential of pulses, a crop booster was developed by the Department of Physiology, which was first used for blackgram and green gram, he said.
TNAU Pulse wonder replaces the existing practice of Diammonium phospate foliar spray, he said.
It can be purchased for Rs 120 per kg at all research stations of the University and Krishi Vigyan Kendras of TNAU, Bhoopathi said.
